Start Where You Are

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

Looking down the path toward a new goal can feel intimidating. You may have a clear idea of where you want to be and even how to get there but the first steps can seem so small… you find yourself wondering how will you ever reach your goal?

Start where you are. Don’t worry about where someone else is or how far you have to go. Just start where you are today, don’t even look at where you used to be and what you used to do. In yoga, we often talk about finding the “edge” of your practice. How deep can you take the stretch today. Your practice is now, today, don’t compare yourself to where you were yesterday or last week or where you will be tomorrow. Simply find your edge of practice today and explore.

Start where you are. If today you can only run for one minute and walk for five then that’s exactly where you need to start. That is your edge and only there will you be able to grow.
